 Kyle Miller - President / HUPAC Chair  

Kyle Miller is an employee benefits consultant with Strategic Employee Benefit Services of West Michigan. He has a vast knowledge of the employee group benefits market and works diligently to keep his clients up to date on the ever-changing legislation front. He has been a NAHU member since 2010 and served as the HUPAC Chair for West Michigan since 2013. He resides in Caledonia, Michigan with his wife and two children. 

EJ Pearson - Past President / Media Relations Chair 

EJ is a graduate of Olivet College.  He been in the industry for 23 years.  Beginning in the Property & Casualty side of the industry for 7 years before moving to Health & Group Benefits.  He has worked for major insurance carriers/TPAs and Global consulting firms.  EJ focuses on business development initiatives, managing market leadership, and advise companies on a wide range of benefits issues, including plan design and pricing, compliance and plan management, as well as consulting on private exchanges.

Drew VanDyk - Secretary 

Drew joined the United States Air Force in 2009 after graduating from Hudsonville High School in 2008. He served as a mechanic on the B-52 bomber at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana for 4 years. After his service, he continued to work as an aircraft mechanic until 2015 when he joined Olivier-VanDyk Insurance Agency in Wyoming, Michigan. Working as an Employee Benefits Producer, Drew’s passion is educating companies and providing strategic solutions to create a strong and competitive benefits package. Drew became a NAHU member in 2016 and served as co-chair on the Symposium committee before taking the position as secretary.

 Matt Graves - President-Elect / Legislative Chair  

Matt received a  Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State University in Political Science.  He has been insurance licensed for 14 years and has been an agent at Lighthouse since February of 2015 after Graves & Company merged with Lighthouse.  Matt has 2 years experience as an ancillary carrier rep, prior board experience with a Political Action Committee and has worked with Medicare and Individual Health on and off-exchange.  His primary focus is on employer group clients.

Tammy Healey - Membership Recruitment & Retention Chair  

Tammy has been in the insurance industry since 1995 and has worked in various sales, service and management positions with a BCBSM MA, Companion Life GA and Principal.  She is currently with Benefit Profiles, Inc. as Director of BenAdmin Sales.  In the past, Tammy has been a member of the SMAHU Board as the Programs and Sponsors Chair.   In her spare time, Tammy enjoys camping, kayaking and spending time at Lake Michigan in Ludington. 

 Nicole Green - Programs Chair

Nicole Green began her career in the health insurance industry over 10 years ago when she joined TGG Solutions, formerly Grotenhuis. She has held several different positions throughout her tenure but has focused in the specialty benefits space for the past four years. Nicole’s role includes working closely with agents to find the best Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan ancillary solution for their client’s needs. She earned her Bachelor’s degree of business administration in management from Davenport University and enjoys the beauty of Michigan outdoors through golfing, kayaking and snowboarding in her spare time. 

Toni Sperlbaum - Awards Chair  

Toni is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Health Plan Advocate.  She has been in corporate wellness since 2010 and is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a Certified Worksite Wellness Program Manager.  Toni’s role includes working closely with brokers and their clients to design the best wellness program for the population and within the ever-changing regulations.  Her passion is education - helping people be the best versions of themselves in whatever realm that may be for them.  

 Troy Duimstra - Golf Outing Chair 

Troy has been in the employee benefits industry in various capacities for over 23 years. He has mainly worked in the large group self-funded market for employer groups, a national consulting house, a physician's network, a Pharmacy Benefit Manager and now, most recently, at Meritain Health. Troy has been a member of WMAHU since 2002 and has served on the Board since 2008 in several capacities, including local president and in 2020, will be the Michigan State President. He has been a licensed Health and Life agent for over 18 years and has his Bachelor's Degree from Grand Valley State University.

Dana Nicholson - Fundraiser Events Chair  

 Lauren Ritsema - Website & Technology Chair

Lauren attended Calvin College for two years before receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State University in Advertising and Public Relations. She got her start in Business Insurance and is a licensed producer of Life, Accident, and Health, as well as Property & Casualty Insurance. Lauren is an Account Manager at Lighthouse Insurance Group working with both Small and Large Groups. As a newcomer to the industry, she is excited to provide fresh ideas and an outside perspective. When it’s not fourth quarter, she enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family. 

  Brandon Erhart - Vanguard Chair 

Brandon Erhart joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan during the summer of 2012 as an intern for the Commercial Business division of West Michigan. He was formally hired shortly thereafter as a New Business Account Manager helping to support the implementation of new groups. In 2015, Brandon accepted his current role where he works closely with his group and agent partners to provide consultation on new products and services to better meet the needs of his clients.  Brandon and his wife, Meaghan, were recently married in the fall of 2015 and currently reside in Grand Rapids. Brandon is an alumni of the Grand Rapids Chamber Emerging Leaders program of 2012. He is an active member of the marketing committee for Friends and Family of Cystic Fibrosis in Grand Rapids. Outside of work, Brandon is in his fifth year as JV Baseball coach at Rockford High School where he also volunteers as a high school leader for YoungLife.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in health communication from Grand Valley State University where he currently serves as the engagement committee chair for the Young Alumni Board.

 Mary Kay Townley - Executive Secretary  

Mary Kay has been an Administrative Assistant for 35 years. She began her own business, MK Secretarial Services, in 1984, and became the Executive Secretary for WMAHU in 1997.  She enjoys getting to know many of you and learning a lot about the Health Insurance field.

Krista Davis - Board Trustee 

Krista is a veteran insurance professional with substantial experience in helping small and large employers develop and implement their employee benefits program. She worked for Priority Health for over 23 years before joining the independent agent community in 2010 and is employed at The Gremel Group. 

Krista obtained her health insurance agent’s license in 1991 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Aquinas College in 1996 with a dual major in Business Administration and Communications.  She has been a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) since the early 90’s and has held a variety of roles on the local West Michigan board since 2001 including serving as President in 2012.  Krista has held various positions on the Michigan Association of Health Underwriters board including becoming President in 2016 and she earned the NAHU Benefit Account Manager Certification in 2018.

Krista and her husband are originally from Connecticut and they enjoy cooking and lake living at their home in Belding.  Krista also loves attending area art shows, concerts and theater performances.  She is a long time member and supporter of the Grand Rapids Civic Theater.
