EJ Pearson - President / Media Relations Chair 

EJ is a graduate of Olivet College.  He been in the industry for 23 years.  Beginning in the Property & Casualty side of the industry for 7 years before moving to Health & Group Benefits.  He has worked for a major insurance carriers/TPAs and Global consulting firms.  EJ focuses on business development initiatives, managing market leadership, and advise companies on a wide range of benefit issues, including plan design and pricing, compliance and plan management, as well as consulting on private exchanges.  

 Dave Cluley - Immediate Past President / Awards Chair

A 20 year NAHU member and chemist by training, Dave sold life and health insurance for 10 years before becoming an HMO statewide and national account manager for 12 years. He’s held positions in hospital communications and marketing for the last eight years. He was the WMAHU “Rookie of the Year”, served on the Expo committee for ten years and has served as local and state President. A legislative junkie and past Region 3 Leg Chair, Dave is also Chair of NAHU's Media Relations committee. 

Kyle Miller - President Elect / HUPAC Chair  

Kyle Miller is an employee benefits consultant with Strategic Employee Benefit Services of West Michigan. He has vast knowledge of the employee group benefit market, and works diligently to keep his clients up to date on the ever changing legislation front. He has been a NAHU member since 2010, and served as the HUPAC Chair for West Michigan since 2013. He resides in Caledonia, Michigan with his wife and two children.

Matt Graves - Secretary / Legislative Chair  

Matt received a  Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State University in Political Science.  He has been insurance icensed for 14 years and has been an agent at Lighthouse since February of 2015 after Graves & Company merged with Lighthouse.  Matt has 2 years experience as an ancillary carrier rep, prior board experience with a Political Action Committee and has worked with Medicare and Individual Health on and off exchange.  His primary focus is on employer group clients.

Brandon Erhart - Programs Chair  

Brandon Erhart joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan during the summer of 2012 as an intern for the Commercial Business division of West Michigan. He was formally hired shortly thereafter as a New Business Account Manager helping to support the implementation of new groups. In 2015, Brandon accepted his current role where he works closely with his group and agent partners to provide consultation on new products and services to better meet the needs of his clients.  Brandon and his wife, Meaghan, were recently married in the fall of 2015 and currently reside in Grand Rapids. Brandon is an alumni of the Grand Rapids Chamber Emerging Leaders program of 2012. He is an active member of the marketing committee for Friends and Family of Cystic Fibrosis in Grand Rapids. Outside of work, Brandon is in his fifth year as JV Baseball coach at Rockford High School where he also volunteers as a high school leader for YoungLife.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in health communication from Grand Valley State University where he currently serves as the engagement committee chair for the Young Alumni Board.

 Jeff Warner - Professional Development Chair

Jeff has been in the Voluntary Industry for 10 years. He has a great deal of experience in group/individual sales, sales leadership, enrollment management, and agency relationship management. He is currently the Group Representative for Aflac in Western & Northern Michigan.

Toni Sperlbaum, Symposium Chair  

Toni is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Health Plan Advocate.  She has been in corporate wellness since 2010 and is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a Certified Worksite Wellness Program Manager.  Toni’s role includes working closely with brokers and their clients to design the best wellness program for the population and within the ever changing regulations.  Her passion is education - helping people be the best versions of themselves in whatever realm that may be for them.  Personally, she loves volunteering, works at a brewery, and is a high school drumline instructor for fun. 

 Troy Duimstra - Golf Outing Chair 

Troy has been a Senior Account Executive with Professional Benefits Services since 2013.  He has been in the employee benefits industry in various capacities for over 15 years as a Human Resource Manager, Account Manager, and Sales Representative.  He has mainly worked in the large group market for employer groups, a national consulting house, a Michigan based physicians network, national carrier, Michigan based Pharmacy Benefit Manager and now most recently at a Third Party Administrator.  Troy has been a member of WMAHU since 2002 and has served on the Board since 2008, with his most recent position being President.

Ed Walter - Public Service / Fundraising Chair  

Edward Walter was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area. He started his career with Aflac in 2005. Since the beginning of 2012 he has called West Michigan home and lives in the Heritage Hill area of Grand Rapids. He enjoys helping people in a time of need and sharing the Aflac Opportunity. Travel and new experiences are what keeps him motivated to do better every day. 

 Tammy Healey - Website & Technology Chair

Tammy has been in the insurance industry since 1995 and has worked in various capacities for both a GA and MA for BCBSM and Companion Life.  She is currently with Principal as Director of Sales Support & Account Management for Group Benefits Distribution for the Michigan & Toledo Regions.  In the past Tammy has been a member of the SMAHU Board as the Programs and Sponsors Chair.   

Mary Kay Townley - Executive Secretary  

Mary Kay has been an Administrative Assistant for 35 years. She began her own business, MK Secretarial Services, in 1984, and became the Executive Secretary for WMAHU in 1997.  She enjoys getting to know many of you and learning a lot about the Health Insurance field.
